It was all over the news and I figured might as well take a first shot at some night photography. This one took quite some practice shots and finally nailed it at the right settings in Manual mode.

My best advice to shoot the moon at nights

Manual Mode

Single point – AF

Spot metering

Aperture around F11

Shutter speed: 1/25 to 1/125

ISO: 100 to 250

A tripod would help but I figured a better/cheaper way. Have the motion stabilization enabled on your lens and then shoot with continuous shutter release mode. The first and last shots might come out blurry because of motion artifact but the middle shots will have little to no blur.

University of Illinois has some really nice botanical gardens. One of them is called Japan House. We decided to take a hike up there and took some snaps. Here are a few edits from there.
