The history of the website:
I always wanted to have a website of my own, but it never materialized out of the storyboard phase. I had it all planned out many times during the last 5 years, but somehow I never got the drive to create one. But then, a part of the blame also goes to technology - Every time I sat down to create my own site (which usually is like once every 4-5 months), some new technology came up and I had to learn it all over from scratch to incorporate into the design.
This went on for years until this year; I just gave myself a deadline to create my own site - and wola!!! The result is right here in front of you. Not that the whole task was a piece of cake, I had to learn a bit of PHP scripting and CSS designing. And how can I forget all the help I received from all my friends and the open source community. I'd like to thank Sachin (Realin), Sudheer (DareDevil), Jagannath (Ally) for making me a complete tech freak - you might be surprised to know that I earn my bread working as a doctor.
Special Thanks: I'd like to thank all the people at Open Source Wed Design - as I would not have been able to make the design of the site so simplistic and yet so beautiful without their open source designs. Please take some time and visit their website at http://oswd.org and thanks to Andreas Viklund for creating such a beautiful CSS template.
The idea behind the website:
I have just completed my MBBS from Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College and during my 5.5 years as a medical student, I've come across a plethora of different health issues which are not taken care of by the current health policies implemented. To make a difference to the society, I wanted to pursue my career in public health and get the best education in the world while I'm at it. This of course led me to universities across USA. But the problem with paper and/or online applications to these universities is - Once your application is submitted, the admissions committee in these universities can never know about other latest developments in the life of the applicant which might affect his admissions status. So here I am, with my very own website, to keep the universities updated about all the recent activities I am involved in.
