Cochlear Tempest - The origin:

It all started with a bunch of college freinds who wanted a break from regular studies. We all had a common interest - Music - and that's when we came up with the idea of creating a band for ourselves. Innitially we were not into professional quality (or even semi-professinal for that matter) recordings. All we had was a lousy $3 microphone and onboard sound card to record our performances in my study room, which overlooked a busy main street.

Neverthless, we did manage to create some recordings - mainly remakes of old hindi songs and medleys. It was really satisfying to see the final results. We started out with a humble begining, publishing our very first recordings in our class magazine "Aqueous Humor" (seems funny how all of our wierd names start with medical lingo). It was appreaciated by the students and gave us the morale boost, we so much required at that point of time.

At this point of time, we didn't even have time to name our "band". Actually one could hardly call it a band, afterall, due to high study pressure, we were able to play only once every six months - but we still managed to keep the passion going. Finally in the second year of college, we met our prodigy keyboard player, Rushyal Shyamraj. And the following year we met our accompanying keyboard player, Arpit Shah. We finally had a complete band (complete in the sense of musical instruments being played - we still lacked a bass guitarist, who are a rare breed in this part of the world)

Cochlear Tempest - Metamorphosis:

As with any other evolving band - we matured with time to reach the current stage, and we're not finished yet. Somewhere down the lane, during our practice sessions, we came up with the name - Cochlear Tempest. As time went by, our individual tastes were refined and the band was to gain. Consider Ujjawal for instance, he played tabla (an Indian percussion instrument) innitially, he then shifted to drums and now he sings wonderfully too. Rushyal, innitially a keyboard player now does lead singing. Arpit, an accompanying keyboard player, now plays the leads and/or bass patterns. And then there are certain apes like me - Still stuck at rythm and lead guitar... hehe
